When I first started feeding raw, I trimmed almost every visible bit of fat off my dogs' meat. I thought I was doing the responsible thing. Health conscious, even. Turns out, I had it backwards. Dogs run on fat the way we run on carbs. It's their primary fuel source, not an extra. Trim too much of it and you'll start seeing it show up as low energy, a dull coat, and a harder time holding a healthy weight, even if the rest of the ratio looks "balanced" on paper. The tricky part is that fat content in raw muscle meat swings wildly. The same cut can run anywhere from nearly fat-free to over a third fat, depending on where it came from. So "lean chicken breast" and "80/20 ground beef" aren't interchangeable the way they look on a label. That's exactly why I built you something new. The Raw Feeding Fat Calculator tells you exactly how much fat to add back into your dog's meal when the meat you have is leaner than your dog needs, without bumping up the total amount you're feeding. Pick your dog's profile (weight, activity level, that kind of thing), plug in what's on the label, and it does the math for you. It's live now, and it's free.
